Subject: Distributor leaking
Question: I'm the owner of Proton SAGA,a car made in Malaysia. All Proton cars use mitsubishi engine and in my case is 4G15 SOHC firing order is 1-3-4-2.
Recently,I found that the distributor leaks.I think it's the O-ring
(rubber) seal of the distributor shaft.
To do it,I have to find the TDC for the #1 piston. So my question is that:
If I'm standing at the front of the car,is it #1 piston from left or #1 piston from right
.
Answer: Fairoze,
I've never seen, or much less worked on a Proton being that I'm from the US. But from my Mitsubishi experience, the #1 piston is typically on the drivers side. I don't know if that helps you any, but I'm not very knowledgable about your car. Look for your timing marks on your crankshaft and oil pump sprockets. When those line up, your #1 piston should be at TDC. Sorry I couldn't be more help.
Good luck!
