| Question: |
i have a 1989 nissan sentra but the nissan guy is full. if i try
and accelerate to fast(and by too fast i mean having the gas pushed down
somewhere close to half way)its like the car pops into neutral, it just
revs up real loud and almost no power goes to the wheels. My CV joints
are shot and im swapping them this weekend but ive never herd of cv's
causeing that... my clutch only has about 2 1/2 inches left in it but
ive never dealt with clutch issues so i wouldnt know if that was the prob.
any suggestions to try and figure this issue out without going to a shop??? |
| Answer: | James, I actually owned an 89 and 93 Sentra. I never had this particular problem, but I do know that it can be caused by severily worn CV joints and axle shafts. I would recommend that you replace your entire axles, instead of simply the just the CV joints. It's only slightly more expensive for the entire axle, and it makes the job a lot quicker and easier. So, it may actually be cheaper for you depending on what your mechanic charges for time in labor to replace the whole axle. Good luck! |
