| Question: | I need to find out what
is wrong with it.We have changed the alternator, and ign. coil, and the battery. But
we are all stumped about it.But this is what is happening it will start
but shut right back off as though you shut the key off.It get fire on one
side of the ign. coil, but not the other and we've but two new ones on.And
we can't seem to be able to find a manual for it. It is a Mercury Tracer with a Mitsubishi engine. |
| Answer: | Stephanie, A manual for an '88 Tracer is not easy to find. You may need to go through the dealership to get one. If your ignition coil is not firing, you probably have a bad connection, or your starter may not be grounded properly. When you have a clogged fuel filter or weak fuel pump, the same senerio can happen as described with your car. I'm not familiar with the mitsubishi engine that is in the Tracer. I'll have to plead igorance on this because I didn't know there was a Mitsubishi engine in a Ford. You should probably take your car to a qualified technician to check all the engine electrical components for proper connections and voltages. Good luck! |
