| Subject: | Timing chains and timing mark alignments |
| Question: |
I wanted to know where the timing marks should be set at, and the balance shaft or silent shaft mark shoud be at when the chains are changed on a 1984, 2.6 litre engine..Its a mitsubichi 2.6 in a Chrysler, town and coutry wagon...Thank You. |
| Answer: | Gabe, I'm not too familiar with the Mitsubishi engine Chrsyler used in their old cars. But typically the timing marks are on the crankshaft sprocket and oil pump sprocket. There are notches in the sprockets and arrows on the engine block to align the notches with. I'd recommend you first set the cam sprocket for the #1 cylinder to be at top-dead-center. From there, you can make you own timing marks on the crankshaft and oil pump sprocket if the original marks have worn away. Good luck! |
