| Question: | 95 mitsubishi montero. 3.0L. the timing is set properly, it is firing and has good compression, and it is getting plenty of fuel, but the engine will not start. What do you think the problem could be? |
| Answer: | Ken, There's a possibility that you're not getting enough air. Check all your intake hoses for blockage, and replace your air filter if you haven't in a few years. You might even want to pull your throttle body for a good cleaning. It looks like you've already checked the basics that I would have mentioned. In the winter, many cars do require some extra cranking to get the engine running, but never crank the starter for more than 10 seconds. If you do crank it for 10 seconds and it doesn't start, don't crank it again for another 60 seconds to allow the starter to cool down. If you still have problems after you inspect and clean your intake, feel free to write back with any additional information. Maybe I can diagnose some more. Good luck! |
