Subject: mitsubishi e.g.r. light
Question: can you tell me how i go about resetting the check egr light on my dash. i drive a 87 mitsubishi montero
Answer: Dean,
I'm not too familiar with that early of a Montero, so please forgive the general answer. If your EGR valve is working correctly, that light should turn off automatically.

The intake manifold can build up an excessive amount of carbon because of the exhaust gas recirculating and the crankcase vapors being drawn in. This causes a small EGR passageway in the intake manifold to become plugged, which eventually causes the light to come on. Have that passageway cleaned out, and your light should turn off.
Good luck!
