| Answer: | Mark, Most service manuals give the procedure to adjust your idle. Near the throttle body, there is an ignition idle adjustment plug. There is also a Base Idle Setting Screw (BISS) that is typically located on the throttle body itself. With the engine running and at normal operating temp., the idle adjustment plug and the ECU MUST be grounded, you slowly turn the BISS until you've reached the desired idle speed. I also recommend replacing the PCV valve, air filter and fuel filter (if you haven't already) before adjusting the idle. If you can't find a Montero service manual at your local auto parts store,
you'll probably have luck finding the info online. |
