| Subject: | Radio locked won'treset |
| Question: |
I have a 2001 Montero that had a battery problem. When it was disconnected the radio went to a code block. No problem---I thought. I got the manual out and followed the instructions exactly but the radio would not take the code I tried and I tried over and over again is there some way to override this or do I need to just throw it away and buy a new one? Also what are the steps to get the panel around the radio off - do I pry or are there screws? |
| Answer: | John, If the code you were given doesn't work, you may have to contact your local dealership service department to get the proper code. But you shouldn't have to buy a new radio. As far as removing the radio, I've never had to do that on a 2001 Montero. If you can find a service manual at your local auto parts store for your truck, that will tell exactly how to remove the radio. Good luck! |
