When I drive the the Montero starts stalling and then come to a complete stop it shuts down; I change the gas filter and it still does it when it warms up it shuts sometimes and won't start until the next day it starts again.

This sounds like it may be an engine temperature sensor, a bad idle air controller, clogged fuel injector, malfunctioning emission component, or an ignition problem. You should also have your car's computer inspected. Read this article for further information:
