with the a/c and now then i took it to the repair shop and they said that
i need a new compressor with clutch could you tell me what else i need
to replace and to see how a compressor goes toggeather like a diagram. |
| Answer: | Matt, The clutch and compressor work together and its not uncommon for them to be replaced together. In many cars, the clutch is part of the compressor and you have no choice but to purchase both. The only other things your mechanic may suggest replacing along with the compressor is the drive belt and perhaps the belt tensioner (if it appears worn when they remove it). Your mechanic will have to remove and recharge your system with new refrigerant and oil for the A/C system, which is normal practice. Those are the only items I can think of which are directly affected by a compressor replacement. But your mechanic will be sure to let you know if they find any other problems once they get in there. You can view a simple diagram and description of the main components of an automotive A/C system in the link below. http://www.familycar.com/ac1.htm Good luck! |
