How do I remove the brake light assembly from a 1998 Mistubish Montero Sport. I removed the 2 Phillips screws but something stops me from actually taking the brake light assembly off to replace the brake light bulb. |
| Answer: | Douglas, I'm guessing you're referring to the center high brake light. You may want to try to gently pry the brake light off with a putty knife or flat head screw driver. If that bulb is the original, than that assembly has not been touched in over 6 years. Sometimes the heat from the sun and from the brake light itself can cause the weatherstripping to melt slightly, then harden again when the temperature cools. This makes for a good glue. If you simply cannot pull the light assembly free, have a local or dealership mechanic do it. It would be much cheaper than replacing the whole assembly if it brakes. Good luck! |
