| Question: | I have a 1990 Mitsubishi
Mighty Max pickup. Engine cranks but no spark. Where is the electronic
ignition unit. I am assuming this unit is bad. Am I on the wright track? Thanks Jim |
| Answer: | Jim, No spark can be caused by a faulty ignition unit. I'm not that familiar with Mighty Max trucks, but Mitsubishi used two different types of ignitions in their vehicles. Some of their vehicle came with the common distributor. You'll know you have a distributor if you follow your spark plugs wire and they lead you to a cylinder type item. The ends of the plug wires would be in a circle. But if you follow back your spark plug wires into the engine and looks like they are plugged into something where they are lined up, that means you have an ignition coil pack; the other type of ignition system Mitsubishi used. Either way, follow your spark plug wires, and you'll find your ignition
unit. But if you test your ignition unit an it does not seem to be
the problem, your car's computer might be cauing you to have no spark.
