| Subject: | Mitsubishi Head Bolts |
| Question: | Hi, I have a 1992 Mitsubishi "Mightie Max" pickup with 2.4 L engine, that was given to us with a Cracked head, I recently located a good head and would like to know if "Reusing" Head bolts are OK?? I also purchased a complete "Head Gasket set" and looking at the "Head Gasket" (FEL-PRO) the gasketdoes not specify which side is top or bottom...Replacing the "2" Timing belts looks like "REAL" fun!!!! ...Thanking you for advice and Comments on this project.. |
| Answer: | You can replace your head
and reuse your head bolts. If any of the bolts look worn or scarred after
you remove them, just replace them. I can't imagine they are too expensive.
FEL-PRO usually does a good job to indicate the orientation of their
gaskets, so if the gasket doesn't indicate top/bottom, it probably
doesn't matter. Just closely inspect your old gasket when you remove
your head. That should show you how the new one should be applied. |
