Question: egr warning light on. where is egr valve on motor [2.0].is it a big deal to change. manual says it is probably clogged and should be changed and subvalve should be cleaned. thanks.
Answer: Stuart,
I can't say for sure where the EGR valve is on your engine. I haven't worked with that particular engine. I do know that typical placement is on the side of the intake manifold; either near the throttle body or on the opposite side of it.

They are typically very easy to change and/or clean out. Get yourself some good carburator cleaner to get rid of all the carbon deposits that are clogging it. The EGR valve is just there as an emissions control device. Some people purposely block them off completely, which can actually promote cleaner burned gas. But if you live in California (the emissions control capitol of the world), they will do a specific annual test for the EGR valve to make sure its operating properly.

You should be able to take care of this job yourself within an hour or so.
Good luck!
