Subject: Starter solenoid
Question: without removing the engine i can reach the solenoid on the starter but the 2 screws won't budge and to buy a solenoid by itself is more expensive then the whole starter motor so my question is do i have to move the engine up in order to remove the starter motor? does the solenoid come off this starter?
Answer: Luciane,
I don't know anything about the car you have because you didn't tell me, so I can only give you a general response.

Most solenoids are permenantly fixed to the starter. Just replace the entire starter assembly. For just about any car, you do not need to move the engine to change the starter. Typically, you need to remove framing members underneath the car. On some cars, it's easier to get to the starter by removing the intake manifold and getting the starter from the top.

It's not the easiest job to replace a starter on any Japanese engine. If you don't think you can do the job yourself, buy the starter from an auto parts start, and find a mechanic that will install it. It's typically a 2 hour job in a professional mechanics garage, so you may be looking at about $100 for labor costs.
Good luck!
