| Question: | i'm familiar with the
mitsu engine somewhat, does the hyundais use mitsu motors? specifically
the 94 elantra 1.6? |
| Answer: | Ken, Mitsubishi and Hyundai build seperate engines. There may be a few parts that can be interchangable, but as of now, they are different in any model out there. Mitsubishi is a Japanese company, while Hyundai is South Korean. About 6 months ago, Chrysler bought about 10% of Hyundai. Chrysler already owns a big chunck of Mitsubishi, and starting in 2005, Chrysler will start using Mitsubishi and Hyundai parts in their Chrysler cars. So, in a couple years, if you buy a new Chrysler, it'll really be a Mitsubishi-Hyundai. If you are actually looking for a timing belt, I would definitely recommend going straight to the dealership to get one. You don't have to let the dealership install it, but they will have the exact and best belt for your engine. |
