| Subject: | OIL LEAKING FROM GASKET |
| Question: | I HAVE A MIT. MIRAGE 1995 ENGINE 1.5 RECENTLY HAD A VAVLE JOB AND GASKET DONE ON CAR , NOW HAS LEAKING OIL FROM GASKET.ALSO THE DISTRIBUTOR I HAD REPLACE WENT OUT IN ONE YEAR .IS IT POSSIBLE THAT A NEW REPLACED DISTRIBUTOR CAN GO OUT THAT QUICK .I HAD IT REPLACE IN JUNE OF 2001, AND IT WENT OUT IN DEC. 2002 |
| Answer: | After a valve job and a gasket
replacement, I'm surprised you're already leaking oil from your gasket.
Your gasket may have been install improperly. If the old gasket wasn't entirely
remove and cleaned off, you will not get a proper seal. You should also
have your pcv valve replaced. A clogged pcv valve will increase crankcase
pressure and sometimes cause a leak. A distributor should definately last longer than a year. It may have been installed incorrectly or the wrong one may have been used. If you can, bring it back to the place you had it installed and see if there was any warranty listed for that distributor. Good luck! |
