Subject: Mitsubishi Mirage won't start

Hi,
I have a 1996 Mitsubishi Mirage S Coupe automatic transmission. Yesterday, I started my car from home and drove to my work. In the evening, I tried to start it kind of made a pop sound and would not start. When I turn the key to ON, I see the check engine and other panel display alright. When I turn the key to the start, I do not hear anything. Could you please help me what could be wrong and where I should look. I have only 65000 miles and I recently got the oil and filter changed.

It sounds like your starter motor is malfunctioning. I would recommend having a mechanic check your starter motor and your starter relay. They may need to be replaced. This becomes more of a common problem on older cars that make many short trips, and especially as the weather gets colder.
