| Question: |
Bought car used for daughter. Cold morning did not start. Looked
at battery, old original, so replaced with new, would not start. The engine
turns over trying to start but won't. Checked fuses. The 100 amp alt.
fuse was blown. Replaced. Still won't crank. I have checked every fuse
in the car. Radio, dome light, A/C blower, door locks, clock, will not
work? I have physically inspected every fuse that the mit. owner manual
shows. All fuses are good. Any ideas? |
| Answer: | Allan, If none of the lighting is working inside the car, nor the blower motor of door locks, that usually is a fuse issue. But since you've checked all the fuses, and they are good, there may be a short in your ignition harness. There are a few harnesses located underneath the steering column, and you may be able to get under there and visually inspect them. For the 100 amp alternator fuse to blow, there may be a very serious
issue. Your alternator or battery may be poorly grounded or shorting out
somewhere. You'll want to have a mechanic check the alternator, battery
and starter for possible shorts in the system. Very few things are even
able to make a 100 amp fuse to blow. If need be, have it towed to a garage
for inspection. It may be a simple as a loose ground connection somewhere. |
