| Question: | i got a mirage and the speedometer and odometer went out how could i fix it could it be a fuse or what? its a 97 |
| Answer: | Dan, I've dealt with very few Mirages; really only two and they were about 8 years old. I'm not sure if your speedo and odometer are mechanical or digial. If your speedometer and odometer are digital, the bulds that light up the display may have burned out. There could be a fuse related to them as well. If you ever hit a patch of ice that made the tire spin really fast, that may have incurred a voltage spike which could have shorted out those displays. You'll need to replace the speed sensor in your transmission. If you know your way around cars, you could probably do this job. If these are the more common mechanical dials for the speedo and odometer, there is no fuse that can fix this. It sounds like the gears on the your speedometer head may have been stripped. You should replace the speedometer cable. Again, if you're comfortable working with your car, you could perform this task. Good luck! |
