Subject:	lack of power
Question:	Hi i am driving 95 Mitsubishi Mirage, while driving when i stopped at light ,it looses rpm an at acceleration the car jumped and jerked untill i got to approx 25 mph. I replaced plugs,wirs, rotor,cap and fuel filter but didnt help, and it runs fine in reverse and transmission is normal too. can u please advise. Thanks..Jack
Answer:	Jack, I have received several questions from others with this similar problem. It's not always that easy to diagnose because it can be so many things. Though you mentioned your transmission is "normal", don't rule out the problem there just yet. I am assuming you have an automatic transmission. The gear used for reverse is quite different from your other drive gears. Just because one works doesn't necessarily mean that all are working. You may want to have your torque converter checked. If you do have a manual transmission, you'll want to have your clutch inspected. Now let's assume your tranny is fine; this way you can check some simpiler (cheaper) fixes. -Your idle speed may not be set correctly -Your ignition timing may be off -You could have belts that are slipping -Your fuel pump may not be producing enough pressure -You could have a clogged air filter and/or intake hose -You could have a leak in one or more vacuum hoses These are just to name a few (but common) causes of your problem you described. All of which are fairly easy to check and fix. If you don't feel confident in checking any of these items yourself, have a qualified technician look at them for you. Good luck!
