Answer:

Steven,

It is true that there are fuses under the dashboard (near where you hood release lever is), but I doubt any of those are contributing to your failure to start. You may want to check the fuse box under the hood; usually positioned near your battery. You may have a bad relay, fuse, or fuseable link. Your ignition fuse may have blown. If that goes, your car will never turn over. Many things can cause that to blow. I had mine blow out on the expressway, doing 80MPH because my fuel pump failed.

Be sure to check your battery, alternator and starter if you haven't already. If you have a voltmeter and repair manual, you trace all the components from the battery to the ignition to make sure you are getting the correct voltage drops. The repair manual will give you all the correct values you should be reading.

You should also check your spark plugs and spark plug wires. If you have never changed either of these, you may be due. Any desent repair manual can walk you through that procedure. And will instruct you on how to properly gap your spark plugs.

If your engine does turn over, but never starts after you made all those checks, you may have bad compression from one or more of your pistons. If that's the case, you should bring your car into a mechanic that can check for the correct compression.

Remember, that car is nearly 13 years old. The Mirages are great cars, and can last many, many years. You just have to keep it well maintained more often because its older.

Good luck!
