Hi Anthony, |
| Answer: | Jenson, Converting a newer car like your '03 Lancer from an auto to a standard would be extremely difficult. Your automatic has additional computers, sensors, wiring, and lots of other hardware that would all need to be modified and adapted to fit a manual transmission. The engine itself would need slight modifications. Also, a new rebuilt manual transmission for '03 Lancer can cost anywhere from $2000-$2500. And labor costs would probably border on $800-$1000 easily for a mechanic cost. And unless you have a garage with a lift, high-torque air ratchet, lots of space, a large array of mechanic specialy tools, lots of time and money, I would recommend you not attempt this yourself. If you deadset on changing your transmission, trade your car up for a
manual transmission model. You'll save lots of time, and probably money
as well. |
