| Question: | Trying to replace the
left front rotor and can't get it off from the wheel? Looks like it
was held by internal studs (no head) which I drilled through. IT still
will not come off. Please assist and reply. THank you. DArrell VAnce |
| Answer: | Darrell, Rotors can be really tricky to remove sometimes. Not so much because there's a lot of items holding them on, but because they can become rust-welded on. This happens a lot with front that have been sitting on a car for 6 or 7 years. I had the same problem with my Eclipse. After struggling for about 2 hours trying to get one of my front rotors off, I was forced to use a sledge hammer to remove it. After a few whacks, the rotor shattered into many pieces; but it was off. If you plan on replacing both front rotors, check to see if the
other rotor comes off easier. If the right rotor comes off with no
problems, but that left one is still stuck, you might have to resort
to a sledge hammer. |
