| Question: | just a general question
. my wifes car threw a belt I put a new one on a week later now it
squeels when its started . is it too tight or too loose? also I noticed
that the crank pulley rides on rubber its not bolted to the crank why? |
| Answer: | Bob, A squeeling noise usually indicates a loose belt. When new belts are first installed, sometimes you need to re-tention them because they stretch once they start to get used. This typically happens with aftermark belts you might buy at an auto parts store. As far as the crank pulley you're seeing, I'm not sure what model
or year of Galant you own, so I can't really answer your question.
Some models have a couple pulleys coming off the crank to power other
items like your A/C, water pump, or power steering. You may be seeing
one of those. |
