| Subject: | Key wont stay put! |
| Question: |
Hi Anthony, I have a 95 Galant S series (Automatic) that a while
ago that my original key(worn) would no longer turn in lock cylinder.
I found my spare and now the key will not stay put in the start position
when starting the car. Admittedly, I did take a couple things apart (electrical
ignition switch) and the pieces below the steering column- 1 piece looks
to interact within the ignition assembly, but swear that I put all pieces
back in correctly. So could the problem be the electrical ignition switch
or the whole assembly(lock cylinder)? Any direction would be greatly appreciated. |
| Answer: | Phil, If the key got worn down enough that it would no longer turn, then there is a good chance cylinder lock for the key is also worn; causing the spare key to also have problems. I would suggest replacing the cylinder lock altogether. Good luck! |
