Answer: Tim,
True.. most people do see a decrease in gas mileage during the winter months. Your car has a 17 gallon tank. So, a 1/4 of a tank is a little more that 4 gallons. And you should be getting between 23-30 miles/gallon. That averages to about 100 miles/quarter tank. Typically, you'll see the best gas mileage when you first fill up your tank.
A tune-up is definately your best bet for getting back gas mileage. Here are some things that should be done:
-Replace air filter
-Replace fuel filter
-Replace all drive belts (at least the timing belt)
-Replace PCV valve
-Oil change; have both the engine oil and transmission oil changed
-Replace spark plugs, plug wires, and your distributor
-Add a high quality fuel system cleaner (Techron makes the best; more expensive than most, but the best)
Taking care of these items should restore your gas mileage. If you get back up to around 25 miles/gallon that is pretty good.
Good luck!
