| Question: | 1995 Mitsubishi, Galant.
4-cyl 2.0L, SOHC I had car tested on machine at a shop, came back with bad computer. Bought used computer and installed but did not work. Is their a trick to installing the computer or just plug it in? Ps. This all started because the car quit running, after it sits for a day it will run for about 15min. and will then quit firing completley. |
| Answer: | Keith, Unlike most installs, the computer should be the easiest. I've removed and installed several, and it didn't involve any more effort than just plugging it in. Make sure there are no bent pins or loose connections. There really is no trick. Just be sure your battery is not connected when you install the new computer. If you get no response at all from the new computer, have it tested. Send it back if its faulty. Sometimes those places that sell rebuilt or used computers, are not always sure exactly all the features on the board. You have to be very specific when ordering those ECMs. You need to get one that'll work with your engine, transmission, and major options (airbags, ABS, power steering, power windows, etc...) Good luck! |
