Subject: fuel injection
Question: I have a 1997 mitsubishi galant es, the problem is that some times i have to press on the gas to get the car going i am watching at time the tec and it seem to drop fast as i let the gas go.

You may have a weak fuel pump, clogged fuel filter, or clogged fuel injector. Your throttle body plate may be sticking and not fully opening. If your accelerator cable is too tight, it may not be releasing properly.

You may also have the wrong timing set. Have your timing belt checked. If you've driven more than 50k-60k miles, replace it; even if the belt still looks good.

Your problem could also be as simple as having the wrong grade of engine oil. If you live in a very cold part of the country (below freezing during the winter months) use a 5W-30 oil. If you're in a part of the country that averages about 40-80 degrees F, use a 10W-30 oil. If you're in a very hot, desert type environment, use 20W-50.

Have your car checked by a qualified mechanic to further pinpoint this problem.
