| Question: | Anthony: OK, I've done new plugs, new wires, synthetic oil. Drove it yesterday to a friends and on the way home, on the highway it died. So as I'm coasting I tried to start it and it wouldnt. Then I dried letting out the clutch to jump start it while I still had speed and nothing. It turns over but doesn't even try to start. Some one said that if the ECU starts to go then you hear clacking and loss of power and when it goes alltoghether the car is definitely not going to start. Whats your take? If this is true aren't those ECU's expensive? Can they be rebuilt? Where is the ECU? The car is stuck in a parking lot. Don't have the money to tow it so hopefully I can get the problem diagnosed and fix it there. I'm in Minnesota working against 0 degree weather. Hope you can help again. Thanks for all your help and patience with me on this. Rich |
| Answer: | Rich, It's a good possibility your ECU could be the problem. Read this article for further information: http://www.90gsx.com/eclipse/cap/caps.htm A new one from the dealership can cost up to $1100, but you can find
a rebuilt one from this site: The ECU is located behind your radio, next to your passenger side kick
panel. |
