Subject: keyless entry
Question: The battery was disconnected for a while. When I hooked it back up, the keyless entry did not work. How do I reprogram it?
98 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS.
Also, off the subject, where can I find good aftermarket camshafts?
Thanks, Rory
Answer: Rory,
I have a procedure that worked to reprogram the keyless entry on a '95 car, but it could also work with yours:

To program the keyless remote:

1) Turn the car off.
2) Find the Data Link Connector under the steering wheel by the center console. Connect a wire between pin 1 and Pin 4. They are along the fatter top edge, the left most pin and the one fourth across the top.
3) Close all doors
4) Turn key to ACC and back off. Locks should lock and unlock to indicate ready to program.
5) Press a button on the key fob 3 times
6) Doors will lock and unlock to indicate signal code received.
7) If you have a second key fob, press a button on the second fob within one minute. Both fobs need to be programmed at one time.
8) Remove the wire between pins 1 and 4 and you are done.

Most dealerships are pretty clueless to this procedure. But if you can't get that procedure I gave you to work, the dealership would probably be your only other option.

A good place to start looking for cams is http://www.dsmparts.com. Check in the 'Engine' section.
Good luck!
