The car quit idleing and the dealer says it needs an idle motor to jive with the computer to keep the car idleing. Is this true or what? |
| Answer: | Joseph, From my experience with Eclipses, the Idle Air Control (IAC) motor is the most probable cause of your idle problem. The IAC's only function is to regulate and allow air to enter the intake, even when the throttle plate is completely closed. If that motor is not functioning properly, your computer will receive false signals from the IAC motor and may turn your car off. Checking an IAC is pretty easy, so I would guess the dealership would
have inspected it before making the diagnosis. So, what your mechanic
