Subject: Wheel alignment report
Question: I have a 99 eclipse RS. She has just been lowered 1.6 inches with Eibach sport springs. They made a mess at first, all fixed now, but that's another story. I took her for a wheel alignment report and am confused by the results e.g. Front Camber Left Initial -0.58 Final -0.94
Front Camber Right Initial -1.54 Final -1.58 The specifications say Left -0.58 to 0.42
and Right -0.58 to 0.42 I seem to be outside the min and max, is this right? The camber of the rear wheel s are also WAY outside the min and max !!! Do I have a problem?
Thanks,
Lorna
Answer: Lorna,
This is common issue when lowering an Eclipse more than an inch. On some turbo models, the control arms are beefier and can handle the lowered ride. But for non-turbos, sometimes a seperate camber kit is required to make the car look pretty again. You will be outside the min and max when lowering over an inch. For the most part, this isn't a major problem if you plan on replacing your tires every 2-3 years. Though your steering my be in alignment, the inside of your tires can suffer. I'm assuming you also installed stiffer shocks and struts when you upgraded your springs.
Hopefully, who ever installed your springs the first time inspected your tie-rods and ball joints after the installation. If your ball joints got over extended during installation, that will continually throw off your alignment.

But as long as your car is aligned, your ball joints and tie-rods are fine, you got new struts with your springs, you should be fine. It may look a little strange, but that's just a drawback to suspension mods.
Good luck!
