Subject: overheating
Question: My '94 mits is overheating, and my alternator belt just broke. It's been sqealing ever since I bought the car about five or six months ago. I just driving and all the sudden the battery light, the brake light, and the, I'm sorry I don't know what it means, but the light that looks like the front of the Lincoln Memorial Building all came on and my steering wheel became very hard to turn. Please help a.s.a.p.
Answer: Katie,
All those lights that you mentioned that came on deal with your alternator not functioning properly. And the reason your is alternator not working is because the belt snapped. The reason why your car is hard to steer is most likely because the power steering belt has either slipped off the pulley and/or you are out of power steering fluid. I would replacing your alternator belt, power steering belt, and your A/C belt (if your car is equipped with with air conditioning).
Good luck!
