| Subject: | Replacing Crank Sensor |
| Question: | It is a 1995 Mitsubishi
Eclipse, 2 liter, manual, I think that it is just a plain GS , no extras
(no all wheel drive, or turbo). My problem is the vehile runs fine,
then all of a sudden the vehicle stops running, just goes dead, when
this happens and I check for fire I do not have any, about an hour
later the car will start up and run fine again, this used to happen
occasionaly, now it happens just a couple of minutes after I start
it up to almost immediately after I start it. I think that it is the
crank sensor. I nee to know where it is and how to replace it, I can
not find any diagrams or literature on it. Any information would be
appreciated, including if you think it may be something different. |
| Answer: | Shannon, The crank angle sensor is mounted on the cylinder head and is directly coupled to the intake camshaft. It's on the passenger side of the valve cover. You'll definetly want a repair manual to assist you with the install procedure. A new crank angle sensor will be pretty expensive, so you should be positive that is your problem before replacing it. Your problem may be with your car's computer itself. It may be best to have a qualifed technician inspect your car. It could save you money in the long run. Good luck! |
