Subject: Oil Pan
Question: Hi I have a 95 Eagle Talon, 2.0L, Esi, Manual that recently was wrecked. I blew my oil pan and i know of one used that i can get cheap, but where the problem comes is that it is off a 95 eclipse gsx. i know that under the hood talons and eclipses are identical as my talon has an eclipse engine, does the fact that it is coming off a turbo charged car and mine is not turbo make a difference?
Thanks in Advance
Answer: Pat,
For every Talon, there is an Eclipse indentical twin. There are some differences between turbos and non-turbos. The actual engine block and some engine components (power steering pump, A/C compressor, etc.) are the same.

The issue you will most likely have is not so much that an Eclipse GSX has a turbo, but that it also has all-wheel drive. With an AWD model, there is an additional transfer case and drive shaft to the rear axle. Because of those additional components that are so close to the oil pan in a GSX and not on the Esi, that oil pan may not match up to your block quite right. And when dealing with an oil pan, you want the match to be EXACT. The equivalent Eclipse models that would most readily meet your swapping needs would be the GS (non-turbo) and RS models.

You can try to fit the GSX oil pan up to your Esi, but don't be surprised if it doesn't fit quite right.
Good luck!
