| Question: | Thanks alot for your
help...I had 1 more question. Would an exhaust manifold or intake manifold
leak possibly trick the MAS into thinking it's getting more air than
it really is? That might account for my higher than normal idle and
boost being shown on the stock gauge. Or is there another area i should
look to if that is a possiblity? |
| Answer: | Mike, I don't think either manifold would cause the MAS to see more air than there really is. The MAS is first thing that air sees when it enters your car (except for the air filter of course). If you have a K&N filter, and no stock air box, you may want to look for leaks around the filter. It's possible the accident the car was in cracked the MAS and some unmeasured (or disrupted flow of) air is entering your intake system. That can cause all sorts of strange idle problems. If you haven't visited this site: http://www.vfaq.com , you should.
It has a HUGE amount of info about DSMs, and there is even a section
that shows how to make a very cheap vacuum leak tester. |
