Subject: Intermittant Starting Porblem
Question: I have a 1995 eclipse with 2.0L, RS, manual trany.
What is happening is that the car will start fine for a week or two and then not start. The car will turn over but not engage. If I play with it long enough, I may get it to start again.
The last time this happened, I was able to get it started and get it to the service center. Once at the service center, the car started fine and worked okay for two weeks. Now it is sitting in my driveway and I cannot get it started again.
Answer: Joe,
It sounds like the problem is with your starter. It may be a faulty starter relay or solenoid. If your car runs fine after you actually get it started, then the problem is most likely with your starter. Starters usually fail when the weather gets cold and/or rainy. Once the temperature rises, you may be able to start it without any problems. I would take your car to a mechanic (or tow it if you can't start it) and have your starter replaced.
Good luck!
