Question: how to change timeing belt or tighten
very loose
Answer: Jim,
The timing belt on your engine needs to be done very precisely. There's a lot more than a few words of a suggestion on how to tighten your belt. If your belt is too loose and it slips, you will ruin your engine. If you make the belt too tight, it will eventually snap and your engine will be ruined.

I would suggest buying a service manual for your car. Haynes makes a very affordable manual and it will give good instruction on timing belt isssues. You can find the manual at most auto parts stores.
If you are tight on money, you should be able to find pretty good instructions from this site: http://www.vfaq.com/

Good luck!
