| Question: | The keyless door locks, flashers, turn signals and the back window wiper will no longer work. I do not think this is from a fuse as all could not go in two days time, or could they? A mechanic I called said maybe a relay switch. If so is this something I could repair myself or do I need a mechanic?? |
| Answer: | Ester, It would seem strange for all thess components to go at once, though not impossible. I could understand if the keyless entry, flashers, and turn signals were to go all at once. They are all tied together because of the keyless entry system. The odd one is your back windshield wiper. I'm not sure if it is tied in with anything else you mentioned on the circuit. All your fuses, fusible links, and relays are either found under your hood near the battery (sometimes also on the opposite side of the battery) and under you dashboard on the driver side. Typically under the steering wheel. You can pull them all out to see if any of them have blown. Relays are not as easy to see if there's a problem because they are encased in black plastic. If you don't wish to go through the hassle of checking all
the fuses, relays, etc., you can bring your car to a mechanic
to do it. If your car is still under warranty, check with
your local Mitsusbishi dealership to see if this can be covered
for free. If the dealership won't cover this under its warranty,
there is a way you can get this checked for free. If you
have any AutoZone stores in your area, they can check your
car's computer to see if there's any trouble codes showing
up. AutoZone will perform this service for free. Call first
to make sure this service is available in your area. |
