Subject: steering problem
Question: When i drive my spyder convertible 2001 my steering wheel shakes especially at higher speeds, what could be the problem?
Answer: William,
Most likely, your front wheels need balancing. Wheels can get out of balance pretty easily. Driving over a small pothole can sometimes be enough to unbalance your wheels.

Other possible scenerios are that you have a lug nut that may be slightly loose. If you have had your tires rotated recently, this is pretty common. Since you have the Eclipse Spyder, they come with alloy wheels. Alloy wheels tend to expand and contract when heated (heat caused by driving and braking) If you had the tires recently rotated (or replaced), they should have recommend that you bring your car back after a day of driving so they can re-torque your lug nuts because of the heat expansion that can occur.

If you are driving this car in an area where there is snow, ice and snow can build up on the rims and cause your steering wheel to wobble.

To be safe, take your car in to your local tire repair shop and ask to have the front wheels balanced. They will fix all the problems I mentioned that can cause your problem.
Good luck!
