| Question: |
I just bought a 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse GST, 2.0, manual and most everything on it seems to be fine except for the fact that the turbo is lagging. Is there a way that I could reroute the turbo lines to improve it? Is there any way to check it or that I could improve it? Would a repair manual have that information? |
| Answer: | Jeff, Repair manuals will give you general diagnostic and repair info. I don't recommend rerouting any lines and it probably wouldn't improve performance if you did. One thing you can check is to see if the propeller shaft for the turbo is wobbly. When the engine is completely cool, remove the large tube that goes from the air filter housing to the turbo. Once removed, reach into the turbo intake and feel for the propeller shaft. If you can easily wiggle the shaft with your finger, then the bearing could be overly worn and you'll probably want to replace the turbo itself. But there are a number of websites that offer performance and maintenance
help. Here are a few: Good luck! |
