Question: mits. eclipse 1992 1.8L sohc manual. I am having problems starting the car for the first time every day. after the car is started once for the day it is ok. i know the eclipse has a history for starting, but it takes awhile for the first time. from what i have found out it should be the wires. get back if you can please...
Answer: Spencer,
If you believe its your battery cables, have them replaced. Also have your starter tested. If its weak, replace it. It would not be out of the ordinary for your 11 year old car to need a new starter.
If you have driven your car with the same spark plugs and plug wires for more than 40k miles, this is good time to replace them.
I was experiencing this same problem with my Eclipse. My problem turned out to be a dying alternator. The good thing is that your alternator will give you lots of warning before it completely dies on you. I would recommend having it tested when you have your plugs and wires replaced.
Good luck!
