Question: What type of transmission fluid should I use in this car? The Haynes repair manual for my car says to use DexronII, the owner's manual says to use ATF. Will it cause a problem if I use the wrong one?
Answer: Barbara,
Both manuals are correct. Dexron II is in ATF (Automatic Transmission Fluid). Dexron II is a just rating. There is even DexronIII fluids available. Just about every store that has an automotive selection will carry ATF. Just look on the label and you should see either DexronII or DexronIII listed there. Either one will work just fine in your car.
Good luck!
