| Question: |
1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT New splitfire sparkplugs. Car misses at idle. Sometimes the check engine light flashes a few times while driving. Check engine light comes on sometimes, and then goes off for no reason. Hesitation in takeoff, missing. Loss of power. Seems to be not getting very good gas mileage. The code tool said missing on cylinder no.2. I?m at a loss as to what to do from here. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks. -Corey |
| Answer: | Corey, Your timing may be off. This can be caused by a malfunctioning crank angle posistion sensor, worn timing belt tensioner, or a worn/stretched timing belt. If you haven't had your timing belt changed within the past 45k-60k miles, you should have it replaced. It's also a good idea to have your O2 sensors and catalytic converter
inspected for clogs. |
