| Question: | 1996 Eclipse 2.0L RS manual,What do I need to do to install Oil pump? |
| Answer: | Glenn, Replacing or installing an oil pump is a pretty messy job. You'll want a good service manual for torque and other spec references. I can't go into the whole procedure here because it would take too long. I can tell you that you will need to remove your timing belt. If you've never replaced a timing belt before, you may want to have a qualified mechanic do this job for you. After the timing belt is removed, you need to remove your oil pump sprocket. Its the lowest sprocket on the belt. Your oil pump really is just a couple of gears that push oil through your engine. Not very complex, but can cause serious problems if performed incorrectly. Do at your own risk. Good luck! |
