I have a 92 Eclipse with the 1.8L I just purchased and the auto tranny was recently replaced by previous owner. It came out of a 92 Eclipse with a 2.0L. Problem is it will shift manually from park to reverse to neutral
to drive (vice,versa), however when driving in Drive gear, it will not
start out in 1st gear and go to 2nd. When I manually shift from D to L
or 2, it still will not downshift. It starts and ends in 3rd gear. 41 shift control solenoid A open No engine codes; all tranny codes. Does this shed any light on the issue? Jeff |
| Answer: | Jeff, This is a unique set up since it's not common to swap a 2.0L transmission onto a 1.8L engine. What I would guess would be that the TCU and/or eletrical harness may be the problem. You should have a transmission shop first inspect the eletrical system on the transmission first. But if the eletrical looks ok, the tranny itself may really have a problem and would probably need to be rebuilt or replaced. Good luck! |
