My daughter has a 1996 eclipse turbo and her idol keeps bouncing up and down. I took it to a mechanic and he said that it was the "error idol control". Is this true and how do I find one. |
| Answer: | Rhonda, I believe the mechanic was referring to the "Idle Air Control" (IAC) motor. And typically when the IAC goes bad, it will cause that idle bouncing. It's commonly referred to as Idle Surge. Other causes of Idle Surge can be due to a dirty throttle body or a clogged EGR valve. But if you're looking to get a new IAC, you could always order one from
the dealership. They are pretty expensive though. You could try to call
around to your local auto parts stores (like AutoZone, Advanced Auto,
NAPA auto parts, etc.) and ask if they carry an IAC for your car. It may
save you a couple bucks. |
