Subject: I have no clue!

Hello,
I have a 2000 eclipse gt and hopefully this is easy, (but Im a girl) anyhow yesterday the display module ya know where the clock is and it lets you change the bass, treble etc shows you what cd is playing, I hope you know what Im talking about but the display is not working, I cant see anything, the radio and cd player still work and all my lights still work, so Im confused and then I have power side mirrors and they wont work now either, Im sorry if this is a stupid question but I dont know what to do I dont know if it is a fuse or what. So if you could help me I would really appreciate it. Thank you, Tomie

This is not a stupid question at all. In fact, it would be tough for any mechanic to diagnosis it. It may be as simple as a couple fuses, or possible the LED lights on your radio have just burned out. That is not too common, so you may even want to check with the dealership about that. Your power side mirrors are probably on a different fuse or relay. You'll want to have any related fuses and relays inspected to make sure they are operational.

Another possible cause for your electrical problem is a worn alternator or dying battery. Someimes when alternators start to go bad, you may notice 'unnecessary' items like power mirror motors or stereos to not function properly. Auto parts stores like AutoZone or Advanced Auto Parts will test your battery and alternator for free. It can't hurt to get them tested so you don't have to pay a regular mechanic to do it.
