Subject: replaced battery and car keeps stalling out
Question: 1994 eclipse 1.4? manual Do I need to adust the idle? Since I replaced the battery I can't keep it from cutting out when I slow down.
Answer: David,

You either have a 1.8L or 2.0L engine, but that's beside the point.

If the reason why you replaced the battery was because it dying on you, have your new battery load tested now. Any local neigboorhood garage can check your battery for you. If you're battery is weak, your problem could be with the alternator. Have that checked as well.

If your alternator is not the problem, you may have a clogged fuel filter. If its been over 2 years or 20,000 since you've had that changed, now is a good time to do it. You may need to replace your air filter as well.

If none of the above help your problem, take your car to a qualified technician and have them check the timing belt, idle speed, throttle body, and all related components.
Good luck!
